Commemorate International Biodiversity Day 2024
With the theme of “Be Part of the Plan”, Biodiversity Secretariat of the Ministry of Environment, Sri Lanka, Commemorate in this year International Biodiversity Day by removing Ulex europaeus (Invasive Alien Species) which is threaten to ecosystem in Horton Plains National Park on 22nd May 2024 under the patronage of the Secretary to the Ministry of Environment, Sri Lanka with the support of Department of Wildlife Conservation, Forest Department, and the participation of relevant Government agencies, Non-Government Organizations, Private Sector, University Students, School Children, Community Organizations and local community.
This initiative was aims to embody the theme of this year’s Biodiversity Day by actively participating in efforts to protect the beautiful ecosystem of world heritage site of Horton Plains National Park. This was carbon neutral event.
