Awareness Workshop on Blue Carbon Ecosystems and Biodiversity

Mollikulam Naval Establishment

An awareness workshop on Enhancing Knowledge of Blue Carbon Ecosystems and Biodiversity of the Mannar Landscape was successfully conducted on 25th and 26th October 2024 at the Mollikulam Naval Establishment. This event was held in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Navy and focused on raising awareness about the importance of blue carbon ecosystems, such as mangroves, salt marshes and seagrasses.

A key highlight of the workshop was a field demonstration on the restoration of mangrove ecosystems, using the National Guidelines for the Restoration of Mangrove Ecosystems of Sri Lanka.  This awareness workshop was financially supported by the Managing Together Project under the Biodiversity Division of the Ministry Environment.
